365: Day 365

Day 365: The end is just another beginning [21/07/11]

a couple of weeks prior i was struggling to come up with a photo for day 365. cliched photos of saplings or my camera with a huge "Day 365" sign stamped onto the photo came into my mind and for a while i had actually thought about going with that. after a botched attempt at a quickie photowalk, i thought about how uninteresting a huge chunk of my 365 photos were - barely something i would shout about, in all honesty. save for some outstanding photos, i can't really say that i'm fully satisfied with the entirety of the project. there were definitely days where i felt creative juices flowing, and there were days when i simply picked the camera up for the sake of getting the day's shot. the project certainly isn't without its lazy photo days, but i personally feel that the commitment is whats important for the project - to take that one shot every day for 365 days sounds like pie on paper, but the reality isn't as simple as written on ink as there were days i had to lug my camera(s) with me everywhere i went. frustratingly enough, i ended up not taking a single photo outdoors most of the time and relegated to taking something random lying on my desk.

i'm not saying that i'm not proud of my photos, i certainly am proud of what i achieved - documenting my daily life for one whole year via a photo a day. i guess i'm just not satisfied with my current level of photo taking. then again, i still have room to grow, and certainly this is just my first go at the project. i suppose i might pursue another project 365 in the near future, probably just so i can further improve my art. in fact i would very much look forward to another project 365. right now, i'd like to do something else in the intermission before the next project 365.

why this blurred out photo of me instead of some cliched photo? even if i do want to fish for "likes" and "comments" for something "meaningfully cliched", i'd very much prefer to stick to my own vision of Day 365 instead of something i don't personally relate to.

this is my Day 365.

i am in love with the Kodak Portra 160VC. i'd love to get my hands on more of these babies, unfortunately Kodak has relegated the 160VC into the realms of "history". fortunately they have the Kodak Portra 400 in it's steed, which is the mid-point between the NC and VC films. i personally prefer the vividness of the VC compared to the NC's neutrality. but a mid-point is a good compromise.
