though we were hit by rather horrible hazey weather, it didn't stop Caloey and i from visiting a lomography warehouse sale by Lokomotiv Checkpoint! i was hoping to be able to pick up a Superheadz UWS at perhaps 50% off, but rather than pick up yet another camera, i decided to stock up on film instead. after poring through a pile of random selections of film, browsing the huge selections of Lomography Society's cameras (at pretty awesome discounts, i must add), and taking our time mulling over what new camera Caloey should pick up, we finally decided on a white Diana Mini which i personally think looks spiffy! i got myself a pile of random colour and black and white negatives, though in hindsight, i should've picked up a couple of slide films as well. with my ever growing arsenal of film idling in my drybox, i have no excuse but to go out and shoot film more frequently. photowalks, anyone?

since Taiwan, i have been taking pictures primarily with the Olympus E-PL3 and have been leaving most of my other cameras in the dry box to idle. i thought about how i might want to slow down on my shutter clicks and take my time to pre-visualize and compose my shots - something i take for granted when shooting with a digital camera. so i decided to revisit the Canon AE-1 on my impromptu trip to Melaka last month. it definitely feels good to slow down and not take pictures of every single bicycle, cat, window, and historical building. well, when it comes to film, it's not like i cannot take pictures of every single bicycle, cat, window, and historical building. rather, i find that limiting yourself sometimes helps you pick better shots. it's a familiar road i tend to want to visit from time to time - like revisiting a familiar location to find nooks and crannies you've never noticed before, or trying out a camera you haven't used for a while and rediscovering why you own it in the first place.
